Losers not always weepers

Hoisting a lost mitten onto a Bascom Hill fencepost is one way to seek out its owner. But you might be surprised: UW actually has many options when it comes to lost items. Many of the items that are misplaced — sunglasses, mobile phones, books and even single shoes — are not only found, but ultimately returned.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is among 16 colleges and universities recognized for excellence in environmental academics and sustainability practices as part of the Second Annual Environmental March Madness tournament.

Task force recommends stronger policies on alcohol

A task force that reviewed UW-Madison’s policies on alcohol service at university events is recommending stronger enforcement of the minimum legal drinking age, limits on events where alcohol is provided without a professional server, and improved communication of alcohol policies to the campus community. New blog aims to show off Madison’s sophisticated side

Last fall, UW-Madison undergraduates Samuel Hutchins and Daven Hines launched their blog, Urbanity. The two Milwaukee natives were inspired by the collegiate influence UW-Madison has on the surrounding city's culture and style.

Banihani, UN policy analyst and UW alumna, to speak on campus

Shams Banihani, a policy analyst with the United Nations Development Programme, will visit campus for presentations this week on the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and UNDP’s work in poverty reduction, HIV/AIDS, gender equality and building green jobs.

UW Students Win Policy Competition

Last weekend, a team of five UW-Madison: La Follette School of Public Affairs students won first place in a regional public affairs competition and they now move on to compete at the national level.
