Who better to design a dorm than students?

Four engineering students proposed a simple yet viable solution for renovating Witte Residence Hall, which is more than 50 years old. Housing officials loved it and the construction now under way includes key elements of the students’ proposal.

Warrior Book Club connects veterans, civilians

Graduate student Molly Harris has not served in the military. But she drew on her knowledge of classical literature to form the Warrior Book Club, which brings together veterans and non-veterans to discuss writing about combat and its aftermath.

Return the McBEE survey on bystander training

This week, UW-Madison students will receive the McBEE survey, which is part of the Multi-College Bystander Education Efficacy study on which bystander training programs increase prevention behaviors and reduce violence on campus. Up to 1,000 students who complete the survey will be eligible to receive a $10 gift card.

You can vote early on campus

The Wisconsin spring election will take place Tuesday, April 4. View Wisconsin ballot information. City of Madison residents may vote early on campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily through Friday at Union South and the Student Activity Center.

Celebrate Native dance, song, art and food at Powwow

The 48th On Wisconsin Annual Spring Powwow is Saturday and Sunday, April 1-2, at the Alliant Energy Center Arena. It provides an opportunity to learn about the culture of people indigenous to this area, and it's free and open to the public.  


Transcend Madison winner tests the water with new technology

Transcend Madison 2017, UW's student-run innovation competition, happens today and Thursday at the Wisconsin Institutes of Discovery. And the stakes are high: The winner of last year's competition is about to graduate and work full-time running the company he started as an undergraduate.
