Thinking ahead: Staying safe on Spring Break

Although many students stay on campus or go home to see friends or family on Spring Break, others travel to soak up the sun or carve down the slopes. University Health Services (UHS) and the Division of Student Life urge all students traveling or staying close to home to use a set of common sense advice.

Beloved by students, UW remembers Bryan Hendricks

Bryan Hendricks, who became a student favorite during 12 years as an instructor in the Psychology Department, died Friday morning at age 66 following an illness that had recently forced his retirement. Princeton Review tapped Hendricks in 2012 for its “The Best 300 Professors” guidebook.

PostSecret is coming: What’s your secret?

A new display in College Library wants to know your secrets. As part of the Distinguished Lecture Series, Frank Warren, founder of the collective art project PostSecret, will be on campus on Wed., March 20. The library, in conjunction with the student group MUSE (Madison Undergraduate Society for English), will be collecting submissions of UW secrets until March 17, to share with Warren.

Badgers in space: Who would you like to launch?

It’s no secret that Badgers excel in everything from sports to science, finance to fashion. Now, two alumni have hopes of bringing Badger pride to outer space. You can vote online for Julie Mason and Jake Rohrig in the AXE Apollo Space Academy, a competition in which the company is looking to send “a few brave civilians” on a trip to space.

Will this be you? Young alums honored

Nine young UW-Madison alumni have been honored with the 2013 Forward under 40 awards, presented by the Wisconsin Alumni Association. WAA says all recipients are living examples of the Wisconsin Idea, the guiding philosophy upon which the university is based.
